Hi, benandang5 , We are sorry you are having issue with your Gemini box. DVR recordings will not be deleted since it is stored in cloud. Please send us a DM, so we can investigate why you are getting an error with your device.

Just to confirm, do you have DIRECTV SATELLITE or DIRECTV STREAM service?

Hello, benandang5. Since your service is under DIRECTV Satellite, if you no longer want to use the box or deactivate it all the recordings are no longer accessible. However, if you will still keep the box itself, you can always go to recording history to access your recordings. Veronica, DIRECTV Community Specialist

OK. If you want to get rid of the Gemini receiver model C71KW, this will NOT erase any recordings since all recordings are stored on the main Genie DVR's hard drive

@DIRECTVhelp

Since the Gemini is just a client, it doesn't store any recordings. The main Genie DVR, on the other hand, is the main server with a hard drive, and this is where all the recordings are stored. Therefore, deactivating a Genie client will not affect the accessing or viewing of recordings from the main Genie DVR.

I tried disconnecting the Gemini, but got an error that the Gemini needed to be connected.

@benandang5

What is the receiver model? What you are referring to as 'Gemini' is Model C71KW, correct?

@DIRECTVhelp

I’ve been messaging help thru FB for the last hour.  They haven’t told me how to uninstall yet.

I'm reading this... the only uninstallation of a Gemini is unplugging and disconnecting it...

The Genie 2 is where your recordings are... and if you get rid of it, the recordings go.

I guess the original response assumed you were on streaming.

Back to the original post, your issue might be the Gemini, and it might be the Genie...

Can you confirm you have a Genie 2 also, besides the Gemini?

When I disconnected the Gemini I got an error that the Gemini needed to be connected.
