Help Programming DTV RC remote for TCL TV

Need help programming DTV remote for a TCL TV.

I have a TCL 65Q550G TV, a HR54/500 box and a RC65RX remote. I have gone thru and read damn near every post about this in the forums as well, can't find anything that will work.

I have tired every TCL and dynex TV remote code I could find, none worked.

Anyone have a remote code that will work? Or any ides how to get the RC65RX remote to work with my TCL 65Q?

Thanks in advance.

The HR54 is made to work with the RC7X remotes.

Thank you, @shannon02. Hi, @user26375. The RC65RX IR (Infrared) remote can only control the DIRECTV receiver in the same room and only able to be used in IR mode with this receiver. This remote cannot be programmed to TV - use Genie remote (i.e. RC 71, 72, 73) instead for your TLC TV. Jonathan, DIRECTV Community Specialist

The RC7X and the HR54 are meant to be programed in RF to get the TV codes.

So you are saying that the RC65RX remote will not work with TCL TVs? Because it worked just fine with my other TVs.

RC65 remote is IR only and old.

Does not have database for your tv

Get a newer remote is best option

RC73 $9 on Amazon

Oh, that makes sense! Thank you for that info. I'll order the newer 7 series remote and try with it.

I will post when I get it and try the codes listed and update with how it goes.

Thanks!

IR can only control the HR54 when there is line of sight.
