HDMI Compatibility Issues

My new 70" Samsung will not recognize my genie box.

Equipment:

Samsung 70" - TU700D Series - 4K UHD LED LCD TV

DirecTV Genie: C71KW-400

There were intermittent moments where the set-up menu would appear on the screen, then the input would drop. I set the box up on another TV, then moved it back to the Samsung, hooked it up to the HDMI, and it worked...HOWEVER, the picture was VERY out of sync with the audio and totally unusable. The HDMI is a 15' copper 4K cable routed in the wall...could this be an issue??

get a new cable is a good, cheap way to test this, agreed. I was unable to get HDR until I changed a cable that I had been using for a long time, and the previous setup did show hdr.

Thanks. I guess I'll need to try different cables...just not an easy task to pull the TV off the wall and route new cables. I specifically purchased GOOD HDMI cables so I would never have to do that. I couldn't be the ONLY person to have ever experienced this though, and DirecTV is clueless.

any way to use a shorter test cable, like move the DTV box temporarily?

That's what I'll do. I will also test a new longer cable before I route it through the wall.

sorry, I thought that went without saying... also you can find good ones with reviews on google. I have 8k cables (now) I liked the Zeskit ones on Amazon, 8k cert and 48 Gbps cert... and reasonable price.

Now I need 4k on the outside patio, surviving with HD... ugh...
