Have H25-100 Box--Want to be able to use a voice-command remote
My dad just moved to a large assisted living facility and they offer DirecTV as part of the rent package. The box that he has is an H25-100 and the supplied remote does not have a "microphone" button. My dad can't see and he wants to be able to press a microphone button and say things like ""CBS", "Fox News", etc. He moved from a facility that used Xfinity/Comcast and their remote allowed voice commands. DirecTV technical support says it can't be done with the H25-100 box (even with third-party remotes). We are using a 2023 TCL "Google" Smart TV. Can anyone suggest how to put together a system that allows voice commands? Perhaps a different DirecTV box could replace the H25-100? DirecTV mentioned the "streaming" system that they offer, but we would have to pay about $70 per month for that. My dad only watches the basic networks and Fox News. Perhaps the Fox News app could be loaded onto the TCL TV (but then we need to subscribe to a content provider). Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Sorry DTV doesn't have a voice remote that will control an H25. Most likely that facility is an MDU (Multi Dwelling Unit) and DTV doesn't service them so you need to find out what company has the service contract to see if they can change it to the only voice command box DTV has the C71WK Gemini. DTV does have DTV via internet streaming service that can use the Gemini Air that uses an HDMI connector to plug into the TV.

Only the MDU company knows if it is a drop in replacement. It is a drop in replacement for residential use if there is a Genie present.

Thanks Shannon02. Is the signal on the coax that comes out of the wall and connects to my H25 compatible with the C71WK Gemini (i.e. is the Gemini a drop-in replacement for the H25?)
I do need to find a technical support contact for the facility. The technician who installed the H25 box had no idea.

The C71KW would require the presence of an additional receiver, the Genie HDDVR receiver. As the C71KW is a Genie client, it cannot be connected by itself, there must also be a Genie server on the same coaxial network in order for the C71KW to receive all data from the Genie.
As most hospitality DIRECTV accounts cannot activate Genie servers (Genie HD DVRs) on their accounts, I don't think your dad can get a Gemini put in.
Of course still attempt to get a hold of the MDU/commercial DIRECTV dealer of the facility to inquire about getting your father a Gemini and Genie HDDVR.
Worst case scenario, your father can have an MDU account set up by the dealer where he pays separately for DIRECTV service, and is able to get whatever receivers he wishes.
