Getting rid of an old satellite dish

The dish does not belong to directv, it belongs to the owner of the house (which is now you).  You need to recycle it, take it down to the tip or whatever is available in your city.

Advertise it on Facebook Marketplace, Buy Nothing, etc. Someone will likely want it.

@Juniper ,  this post gets viewed a lot in are reporting system. Probably customers using those keywords in search engines and then they land here. My comment is to just have some additional information on this post due to the traffic it receives.

Using that equipment return page I posted, the satellite dish removal information section is before that recycling section. I checked out the URL on the DIRECTV site, and it may only be for receivers and clients. It was kind of lumped in together, so I was not sure, but when you run the fields it's looking for receiver and client serial numbers only. I will check with some contacts, but yeah you're right, looking like you can't recycle a dish.  I will follow up on this.

Most communities have a 2 or so time free "bulk pickup" at their house. Used normally for washing machines, etc. Check with your trash collection people.

This is why DirectTV is a (Edited per community guidelines) company - no longer relevant - ATT took over and now they have a (Edited per community guidelines)ty streaming company.  Poor leadership. 

AT&T sold off 30% of DTV and no longer handles the day to day operations.

What if DirecTV never told you that the satellite dish was yours? Would that change how you callously dismiss people's opinions on this matter?

I had the same situation, except I've been an AT&T customer for forty years. They could have offered a gift card to offset the cost.

You didn't read the Equipment lease agreement.

  This agreement does not apply to Owned Equipment. If You own Your Equipment, You do not need to return it and a non-return fee does not apply. DIRECTV connected via Satellite customers: You own Your Receiving Equipment (acquired as part of Your initial subscription to DIRECTV connected via Satellite).  Receiving Equipment means the antenna, dish, mounting hardware, cabling into Your home.
