Genie remote - Volume not working
I had my Direct TV boxes upgraded this week to the Genie.
The volume on one of my remote does not function (all diagnostic efforts have been done, including changing batteries).
I called tech support. After going through the menu, it concluded that I had a defective remote. To obtain a replacement it said...
"Log into your account and select Option X".
There is no option X that I can find. Can anyone give me some guidance? Much thanks!

DTV remotes are cheaper online.

Uhh... shouldn't it be replaced on warranty, i.e. free?
That would be the cheapest I would think.

It is an owned accessory with only a 90 day warranty.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I'm sure I can get a replacement for free. However, before calling them back out, I just wondered if it was a setting or some error on my part that someone else may have experienced . . .

If one works and not the other tends to support it is defective, have you tried to reprogram the "defective" remote to the other TV that is responding to the other remote?

I have not as I do not know how to 'program' the remote to the TV.

If the remote is an RC7X then you press and hold the Mute and enter buttons until the TV shows a message that you are in RF mode then it should tell you the next steps. Try this first on the TV/remote that is not working as the wrong code maybe causing it to not control the volume.
