Genie deleted block of recorded show
I've been recording a couple series of old shows so I can watch them in order. Can't get them on the website without paying which is frustrating in itself. Yesterday the Genie deleted over 100 shows all at once. I've reset everything and they are gone. They all are from the same series and not all of the series was deleted, but most of it. Pay for the service, pay rental on the genie, and still have to pay for shows because the genie is garbage. Then I try support and get someone I can barely understand. Anyone have a DVR suggestion so I can just use a tv antenna or how about a good cheap streaming service that has a dvr service.

There is no rental charge for the DVR they are leased. The content providers are the ones charging you for their content, DTV is only collecting it. Hard drives fail at anytime so are not for long term storage and the fact so many where deleted could mean it will die soon.

Leased? rented? I'm paying $15/month and could have bought a few DVRs for what I've paid for over the years. Content providers or DTV, not my problem. I've paid DTV and they advertise being able to get missed shows. Tried support and best I could get is "reset your receiver". Why no suggestion to replace an old DVR that is obviously going bad. I've also been fighting a set up that won't connect to my internet without locking up my modem/routers every night so I leave it disconnected and only connect when needed.
I've been looking at streaming services all morning and DTV does not compete. Time for them to either compete or close up shop. Got rid of cable because of all the extra charges and price increases and went to DTV. Looks like a bad DVR is telling me its' time for another change.
