Genie connection needed in order to use DirecTV app on TV/Phone/Tablet?
Does my Genie box and/satellite box need to be connected in anyway in order for the DirecTV app to work on my TV? Part 2 of this question: If i keep the power and the coax plugged into the Genie but disconnect the genie to the satellite box (subsequently to the tv) will my scheduled DVR recordings still record?

Part 1: No, the DIRECTV App will work on any compatible devices. See the full list here: Streaming devices compatible with DIRECTV | DIRECTV Support
Part 2: As long as the main receiver, Genie/Genie 2, is connected, DVR recordings will continue to work.

thanks, Mo for the response. So basically, I can leave the genie unplugged from my TV And still use the DIRECTV app to watch, but in order to continue recording, the genie does indeed need to be plugged in to at least the coax connection, but not necessarily directly to the TV?

If your program is scheduled to record, the receiver and TV can be off, but they need to be plugged in.
