Genie box?

What is the genie box? My direct tv Box does not say genie so will the Gemini work with that? Had direct since 2017 or 2018?

HR54 is a Genie.

A simple answer: the word "Genie" can be applied to several different pieces of hardware:

"Genie" compatible DVRS

Genie 1

Genie 2 server

Genie Mini (client)

They should stop it with the names, or use unique names for different pieces of hardware...  really a mess created by DTV

The H44 is a Genie lite as it has no hard drive but there was a hard drive kit to turn it into an HR44, it didn't go over well.

@Juniper..with all the reading, I probably would be leaning to the HR54 if i just look to get the one box upgrade/replacement and perhaps add a mini genie as they are no connectors to connect to RF modulator to other TVs, etc.   thx.

The HR54 would need a composite 10 pin din cable to connect to an RF modulator.

today use the coax in the walls to connect to 2 other TVs - showing same prog on primary tv.   not old TVs - just a way to use them in other rooms without spending all the extra #s for minis.   :)
