Gemini vs satellite

So I now have Directv satellite. Rarely stream anything. So why get Gemini?  Also, read that Gemini has a smaller remote control that some seniors do not find user friendly, but does Gemini system replace my existing Directv box?
Have two Directv boxes now—one for each TV. If I get the new Gemini system for one TV, do I keep the old box for the second set? If I want view previously recorded shows, which I can now do on either TV, will that still apply with the new Gemini system?  If not, my key question, why change?

No, the Gemini is just another mini client that has the ability to stream most apps without having to switch the TV input. so there is no need for it if you don't stream much.

Gemini does have a voice button which you can use to voice search and Google Assistant. You may or may not find that useful.
