The Gemini remote mainly uses Bluetooth to work, no other DTV remote has it but I think if there is a way to unpaired it from the remote the Gemini will use IR that all DTV remote use.
I tried an older remote via IR, not all the commands are the same.
The Gemini will accept IR commands even though paired with the newer remote, so the only reason to unpair it is to "learn" the IR commands to a learning remote (like I did).
