Gemini remote does not turn off my Genie HR44-500.

Hi, the remote turns on my Gemini, my TV, my audio receiver and the Genie. I don't need the Genie on, it works fine being controlled by the Gemini in stand-by mode (I've tested that). But much worse, the remove "off" button does NOT turn off the Genie, but it does turn off the Gemini, the TV and the audio receiver just fine. This must be a bug. The old Genie remote is using RF, so I don't think I can "cover up the sensor". I've read the other threads on this topic, not much help, they kind of explain that state of things, but this is a bug that needs to be fixed. I don't want my Genie on 24h a day wasting energy!

Thanks,

Andy

The Genie is on 24/7 buffering the channels and downloading the guide info and any updates.

The Gemini remote uses Bluetooth to control the Gemini but also uses IR to control IR devices and RF.

The Genie also use both IR and RF at the same time as the RC7X  remotes send both at the same time.

Interesting... normally the Gemini remote can give two off commands... the one via bluetooth to the Gemini, and an IR one to the "TV". You cannot register (AFAIK) more than one IR device to be turned off. So when hitting the OFF, the Gemini remote should be sending the IR off command to your TV.

Turning other things off may be happening by CEC / HDMI control... i.e. turning off the TV has the TV send to HDMI control off to the Receiver.

I think this is what is happening.

But what is the problem, you want the HR44 to turn off too?

Yes gregeusa, the gemini remote turns on the HR44 (unnecessarily), but the off button does NOT turn off the HR44, so I have to turn it off using either the button on the front of the HR44 or the old remote for HR44.

yeah, so the problem is really turning on the HR44 in the first place?

In other words, if the gemini remote never turned it on with the on button on the rc8x remote, you would be fine?

Yes, if it never turned on the HR44, that would solve my problem. As I said earlier, it seems to be using RF to turn it on (in that it's not directional), so I don't think I can block or cover a sensor on the HR44 to keep it from being turned on.
