Gemini changes input

My Gemini receiver is connected to my TV via HDMI cable to input 1. When I turn on my TV and Gemini using the remote control, the input is automatically changed to input 2. There is nothing connected to input 2. How do correct this?

Very strange, is it possible you are reading the labelling on your TV HDMI ports wrong?

What happens if you put DTV on HDMI1? (just to test).

Also what TV brand and model do you have? The TV may have a setting to automatically change the input to HDMI2 when it turns on.

No. Labeling is correct. I swapped out a Genie mini for the new Gemini and used the same HDMI cable which was never removed from the TV's input 1. When I turn on the TV and the Gemini with the remote control, input 2 is displayed every time. I have to manually change back to input 1 to watch TV. I was wondering if someone knew of some setting that needed to be changed in the Gemini. .

No, the Gemini does not have a specific setting. It would be a setting on your actual TV. As requested earlier, please list your TV brand and model. You may have to go to the TV menu/settings to change the default input upon boot up or change HDMI-CEC settings

Samsung 7 series. I've had this TV connected to a genie receiver for years. Never had to change default input settings. It always displayed input 1 on boot up. Problem arose when I replaced the Genie with a Gemini.

BTW, if I turn on the TV using just the TV's own remote, it displays input 1. It's only when I use the Gemini remote to turn on both the TV and the Gemini receiver that the the input defaults to input 2.

You can turn off the CEC on the Gemini, it is called "hdmi control", I'd try that... also you could turn off CEC on your samsung, but that makes even less sense, but again worth a try if turning it off on the Gemini does not work.

Let us know what you find, DTV normally blames the TV. I've had top of the line Samsungs for a long time, hard to blame them.

Thanks, Greg. How do I access the CEC (HDMI control) on the Gemini?

oops, it's in the Genie Mini, not in the Gemini

settings ... display settings ... video ... "HDMI Control"

Missing from the Gemini (why not settable?)

Sorry for wrong data.

What happens if you connect the DirecTV box to HDMI2?

On my samsung, I think I can enable/disable CEC on each HDMI input individually.

Today, I changed from Genie to Gemini and my AVR does exactly the same as yours when I use the Gemini remote to power on my system.    It changes the input on the AVR to the wrong one!    Seems like a bug in the Gemini remote.

I spoke to DirecTV tech support. They said they never heard of this issue but would get back to me within 7-10 days.  It's been 3 months.

So lame...   Maybe I should just use that input on my AVR and relabel it?

I had the same problem recently, with my Samsung TV, I just received a Gemini, to use along with my older Genie box. Switching the Samsung TV to CEC setting for inputs fixed problem.

The only thing that does happen now is when I turn on both Gemini & Samsung TV with new Gemini remote, it "burps" abit as it comes on like it is searching for the correct input to use, then it stays on the correct input after about 3-5 secs.

By the way the new Gemini remote per DIRECTV does not turn on / off the old Genie box, they said it doesn't matter if this box is on or off, it will still tune channels with new Gemini remote, and mind does that exactly, sometimes it comes on when I tune a channel. But again it does not go on / off with new Gemni remote, again, DirecTV said that is normal.
