gemeni issues with samsungTV

have new OLED & QLED from samsung; "upgraded" to wireless 4k gemeni boxes.  several service calls by direct tv techs for new tower, gemeni boxes but same issues occur;  after 1 day or a few hours of tech showing,  mainly the functions on the remote won't work.  the guide, dvr, apps button are not responsive. have to reset the box each day.  not a workable solution.    the current set up is wireless

You are a DIRECTV satellite customer, correct? How far away is the Gemini receiver from the main Genie tower (HS17) ?

correct, directtv satellite;

my same issue occurs if wired or wireless; tower is in basement:

gemini box 1 - is one floor up right above the tower

gemini box 2 - is in basement next to mesh wifi pod

strong download speeds in both locations

Why would the distance from the Genie tower affect the remote?

It's the distance from the Gemini that is important... the Gemini communicates to the tower via wi-fi.

A good question is: "are your remotes set up for RF (bluetooth) or IR?"

If IR, do you have a good line of sight to the Gemini?

If RF, what is the distance from the Gemini to the remote? Are there any metallic obstructions?

Wireless minis including the C71KW Gemini use the WVB to connect to the HS17 not you home WiFi. This sound like a remote problem have the techs replaced any of them?

When the remote stops functioning, do you still get video ok?

all great questions:

the techs have replaced the remotes when they swapped the boxes out.   the techs set up the remote so trust their expertise, i can be 1,2,3 feet and level with the unit.

regarding the picture, its 50/50 at times,  the pic is there and remote not responsive or no pic.  the pic/no pic varies between the tv

With the picture intermittent, and the remote intermittent, it would seem that you have an intermittent connection between the Gemini and the Genie.

The communication is WiFi, but not using your network but a separate WiFi network, in the 5GHz band.

You can get an app for your phone to look at the signal strength of the Wireless Video Bridge (WVB), it will show up as an SSID of something like DIRECTV_WVB_XXXXXX and will normally be in the range of channel 140 (mine is at 136 tonight).

The OP has said this happens even when wired.

I read that, maybe check if wired meant Ethernet to the Gemini, or what.

The Gemini does NOT have a coax connection, and he did not mention a WVB connected (and it would not make sense).

So I assumed he meant a hardwired Ethernet, and as you know the connection to the Genie 2 tower is only by WVB...

So, I was checking if that connection to the Genie 2 was affected, and I would reason if it was intermittent, sometimes the picture would cut out, and he confirmed so.

Therefore my current theory is his WVB connection is not solid.

Let me know where I've gone astray, if you think so.

You can use a DECA BB connected to the coax from the SWM splitter to remove the internet to feed the Gemini.  While not a DTV approved method you can connect the Gemini to your router and get the Genie programing.

i was originally hard wired by ethernet when the issue first appeared.  the direct tv tech then changed to a wireless setup.

Well, you can see the signal strength of the WVB through the settings menu. I would check that first, under Genie 2.

I already made a suggestion that you can see the wireless signal strength on your phone.

Those are my suggestions if you want to isolate the problem yourself.

Was that using a DECA BB connected to a coax from the SWM splitter to the Gemini?
