Does the Dtv 1.5 Aim Meter power the lnb on a non swm slimline dish.

Hello to anyone that can help...

I have a sl3 non swm lnb multiswitch slimline dish. I have a H24/700 w b band converter in my livingroom and the same  in a bedroom. We had some bad storms go thru the area and would like to re-aim my dish. I am getting 95% on the 101 sat. But the 99 and 103 arent great. I was going to purchase a Dtv 1.5 aim meter to help with the 99/103 dithering so i would be spot on signal. I have two rg6 quad shield cables from the lnb to each room. No powerinserter needed. Is there a procedure anyone could give me for the aim meter? I think my receiver powers the lnb on dish, can i use a pigtail cable to one of the ports on the lnb to the dtv aim meter as there are four ports on lnb and only two are being used for each receiver ? Does the aim meter power the lnb so i can adjust the signal? Then i was hoping to cap off the pigtail from the lnb as not to disturb the lnb. Does it matter which port i use on the lnb for the rg6 pigtail to aquire a signal on the aim meter?

Sorry for so many questions!

AFAIK no, non SWM LNBs need both 13v and 18v to turn on the even/odd transponders. The built in meters are fine for this if you can see them on a TV.

You can't use any splitters on a non SWM system.

It is not hard to change the non SWM LNB for SWM LNB and add a power inserter.

I the receiver is connected from the dish with the coax cable and turned on... wouldnt that power the 13v and 18v transponders on the sl3 non swm lnb? And i could use one of the other inputs on the lnb (as there are 4) for the aim meter to align the dish ? I cant use the signal meter from receiver on tv as i would be on the roof.

The LNB you currently have will not work --Get a swm sl3 and Pi-29 power supply Then power up your receivers one at a time then -Have someone watch the TV use your phone for face time while you realign the dish. Change the LNB first then see if your dish alignment is the real issue or a failing LNB.

Thankyou so much for replying!

If i get a new sl3 ka/ku swm lnb with the power inverter, will that work with my H24 receivers? What would you recommend for a splitter? I currently have two cables comming from dish to each receiver because its non swm. I had purchased a ka/ku non swm lnb to replace the existing one then was hoping to use the aim meter to dither the signal.

Yes, it will work with those receivers You will also need a swm (mini) splitter 4 or 8 port

Port 1 is red for the External power supply to connect to then on rg6 to each receiver SAT 1 Port.  -the Single port of the swm splitter goes to the LNB

Example;

DIRECTV 4-Way Wideband SWM Satellite Splitter (SPLIT4MRV) | Solid Signal

either a 4 or an 8 Depending on how many receivers you have.

Thankyou so much for helping!

Do you have a link for the proper lnb i should use?  Do you know which settings i should use on the 1.5 meter. And i think i just need to switch the receiver setting to sl3 swm during setup? Is it still a multiswitch? Sorry for so many questions.🙂

A non SWM LNB needs 13v or 18v to each port so no you can't connect a 21v AIM meter to them to get the sat readings.

The H24 only needs one coax as there is only 1 tuner.

So i was going to switch my non swm lnb to a sl3 swm ka/ku lnb w multiswitch and also a swm pi29 power inserter and a swm splitter for my (2) h24/700 receivers and get rid of the b band converters.  I purchased everything and what i got was a 3D2RBLNBR0-01 lnb....

Will this work with my reciever?and can i use a dtv 1.5 aim meter to get the best signal? Will a 3D2RBLNBR0-01 lnb work? Do i need to return the lnb i received??? This is starting to get complicated and frustrating.

One coax connection and a green SWM label present means it will work. Yes the AIM power it.

Hello Shannon02 and goldw1800..

Thankyou for your reply. So i didnt receive the sl3 swm ka/ku multiswitch lnb i ordered. This 3D2RBLNBR0-01 that i received says its a replacement, and is this a reverse lnb? Not sure what that is... If it is usable in my setup...what setting do i use on my h24 receiver? Is it still sl3 swm w multiswitch? It does have a green swm label but not sure if i need to find the original lnb i ordered from a different supplier. Best Regards to you.

The H24s will automatically detect the SWM LNB so there is nothing to do.  If there are any new 4K channels added you will need the RBLNB to get them.

Hello shannon02...

I dont have a 4k tv- just a tv that gets 1080. So will there be any issues to watch programming from dtv?

Thankyou
