dish requirement
The house I moved into in 2020 has a direct tv dish installed. I've heard that the dish is no longer required if you have internet service. Can I get the dish removed and get the same tv reception?

Yes, you can get DIRECTV without a dish by streaming with us DIRECTV | Stream the Channels You Love Minus the Ones You Don't Unfortunately, we don't offer dish removal. If you're unable to safely remove it, we recommend that you contact a third-party company. After removal, consider recycling. Recycle your DIRECTV equipment

There are now multiple services.
DirecTV - Satellite service that still requires a dish.
DirecTV via Internet - Streaming service where DirecTV provides you required equipment, 24 month service agreement, and billing model is similar to traditional DirecTV.
DIRECTV STREAM - Streaming service that is bring your own device (BYOD). No service agreement as they are not providing you equipment. Use a compatible streaming device of your choice (Roku, Firestick, etc.). May have less fees since you provide your own equipment.
The services are not guaranteed to have the same packages and channels available. Check on their website for the streaming service and the channels that matter to you.
As for the existing dish, that will not be removed by DirecTV. It is part of the home once installed. If you choose to remove it, leave the mounting plate to minimize the risk of leaks.
