Tech support deactivated the Gemini on my acct. Then the red button reset restored the Genie to it's prior state.

What is the model number of the Genie Mini you are replacing the Gemini with? Any reason for wanting to replace the Gemini, are you having technical issues?

I didn't replace a mini, I co-located the Gemini with my genie DVR. I've decided I want to remove it and unmodify my genie.

Oh, I completely misunderstood. To do this, just unplug the Ethernet cable going from the HR54 (or other Genie DVR involved) to the Gemini receiver. Once the Ethernet cable is removed, just do a red button reset on your Genie receiver (side by the access card for HR54 series or front behind the door that says ‘PUSH’)

No help. It still says it's configured to work with the Gemini. Result code 651.

@Lhaff37 when you receive the error 651 on your screen, it means your HDMI cable is connected to the wrong device. Check that it is plugged into your Gemini device instead of the main Genie receiver. Please follow the steps here https://www.directv.com/support/article/000093146 to fix this issue. In the meantime, I'm sending you a DM to continue with the assistance. No the hdmi cable is connected to the Genie. That's even what 651 says.

@Lhaff37
Did you try a red button reset on the receiver like I stated?

I tried the Gemini for a couple weeks. Didn’t like the remote as well. Didn’t like the responsiveness as well. Didn’t think having the internet apps was worth it.
I’ll switch inputs and use AppleTV.
Disconnected the Gemini from the Genie. Got error 651 - Your Genie is configured for a Gemini. Called DTV.
They removed the Gemini from my account.
Sent some signal a couple of times.
I finally had to reset the Genie twice to get it working by itself again.
That was how I got it back to where I started.

Second reset was by unplugging the receiver.

AFAIK when you colocate a Gemini on the same TV with a Genie, DTV turns of the video/audio of the Genie so you have to remove the Gemini from the account to restore the Genie
