The new dish is installed and replacing a 20 year old DIRECTV unit that DIRECTV shut down. Any help would be appreciated. My unit is not Genie

Is this H24 the box you've had or did you just get it?

What dish did you get? Since DirecTV didn't install it, is this for something other than your residence (RV, vacation cabin, etc.)?

Yes the model H24 clearly shows it is not a Genie. And of course a Genie couldn't use a 20 year old dish that was MPEG-2/SD-only.

Do you have a power inserter connected?

I was told that the H 24 doesn’t need the

PI-21 21V Volt 1.5A Power Inserter SWM Dish DTV for SwimLine Pl21 Slim Line SWM Technology Slimline Satellite Dish Power Inserter

that it is built in the H 24 I am going to see if I can use my neighbor he has one on his unit to see if that is the problem. The H 24 was sent to me by DIRECTV if it had a needed the inverter I would think they would’ve shipped it to me

The H24 doesn't need the power inserter it is the SWM LNB that needs it and only the HR54 and the HS17 have it built in.

Was the H24 a warranty replacement or were you doing an upgrade? If you were going from an SD to an HD box (upgrade or required MPEG swap) it should have been tech installed which would have prevented these issues.
