Directv remote control always say batteries are low

My remote control always say low on batteries. We replaced it with new batteries but the message still pops up. We reset the DVR but still the same. What else can we do?

Hey, @Tuanojc, we'd be glad to help get your remote working again.

Since you already reset your receiver to no avail, you will want to reset the remote itself next. To learn how to do this, check out our article on How to Troubleshoot your DIRECTV Genie remote control (If you have a universal remote, you can change it in the drop down menu) and scroll down to Receiver and remote control reset. Since you already reset the receiver, you can skip that part and continue to Reset a Remote Control.

Let us know if this helps!

I am having the same problem (on both receivers --3 & mini-- and with both remotes). I have to change the batteries every few WEEKS!!! and have taken all these steps more than once: 1) replaced the batteries, 2) reset both boxes with the red buttons, 3) open brand new package of different batteries and replace, 4) do the online refresh for both recievers and 5) reset both remotes. This has been happening for the last few months nonstop. Now, oftentimes, I replace the batteries and get the low battery error the SAME day! Do I need new receivers? What needs to be relaced?

This was an on going problem with remote eating batteries.  I have a slightly older version of Directtv in my second bedroom, the remote control has batteries in it that is still working after 3 months it does not eat any batteries, the only difference is the older version of the Fire stick does not send you a message to change your batteries or batteries are getting low to your notifications feature. I believe the newer versions of the fire stick are using  the battery of the remote control to constantly check your battery and send that information

through Wi-Fi to your fire stick and you cannot turn it off.  That's why they recommended to pull your batteries out of your fire stick. So that means they didn't want to let know that your fire stick is always turned on to use you WI-FI to send data to your Fire Stick

Regarding this information, "O" gee if this is the reason,  how clever they were to put this needless feature to use more your of data just for a battery check and not let anybody know why your going through so many batteries.
