DirecTV remote and surround sound
I just had a DIRECTV box put in yesterday with a genie remote RC 73. It turns on my surroundsound anytime I hit a button. My reciever is a pioneer VSX 824. I called support and they just want to send me a new remote. Something tells me that’s not going to fix the problem.

AFAIK the Genie remote models RC7x were only ever designed to work with turning TVs ON and OFF or changing the volume. Using them with any other device like an alternate DVD player, soundbar, etc will be cumbersome.

Ensure that "HDMI CEC" power control settings are disabled on the DirecTV box and your AV Receiver.
