DIRECTV Just Didn’t Care

I have been a DIRECTV customer for 12 years when my equipment just stopped working.  After trouble shooting on the phone, I was told that I had to pay $99 for a tech to come out.  Why should I pay $99 when I already pay for their service and it’s their equipment doesn’t work?  Anyway, after a transfer to the so-called “Loyalty Department”, the attitude was basically ‘there’s nothing we can do so if you don’t want to pay then…bye…’.  You’d think DIRECTV would be looking to retain long time customers but I guess not.  It just shows you that they don’t care about you as a consumer so, after 12 years, I had no choice but to cancel the service because that’s the only option I was given.  Just strange.  Very very strange.

You own everything but the receivers so that is why DTV has a service call fee, Defective receivers are replaced for free but there is a $20 shipping fee.

I can’t figure out how to reply on here but there was a 722 error - would not connect to the satellite.  Also did a 1.5 hour troubleshoot - reconnected everything, reset the box etc. etc.  the box is very old it’s probably that but again, they didn’t care.  Also would have tried another box but they didn’t give that option, only ‘if you don’t want to pay the $99 service fee then there’s nothing we can do.

722 error is a subscription account issue, not your equipment.

I might have the error code wrong.  It was 7 something but it actually said loss of signal or something like that.

Maybe 772?  I’m sure I’ve got the numbers wrong.

You own everything BUT the boxes. That means sending a tech out is to work on what you own. So it is $99 for everybody. AT 5, 10, 20 years makes  no difference You are still a DirecTV customer like the rest of us.

If the box itself is the issue, then a tech should not be sent. It is only $19.95 delivery in that case.

However 722 is a programming or authorization issue, so service/account, and should not be problem with the equipment.

So first of all double check the error message you are getting.

What are the models of each box you have?

Is the problem on each box?

Is it every channel or certain ones?

711 loss of signal is a dish aliment problem, there are videos on youtube if you want to try it yourself otherwise you pay the $99 for a tech.
