Directv error code 771 or 722
We have Directv receivers in our home and motorhome. When we're travelling in the motorhome, everytime we move locations we can't seem to connect to the receiver and have to call support and most of the time support doesn't have the experience with mobile connection issues until we have called at least 4 times on the same issue! We would like to correct the problem once and for all so we can enjoy the Directv when away from home.
We have a Winegard Traveler dish on the motorhome and it connects to three satillites satellites everytime in spite of getting the error codes. All connections on the receiver are never disconnected and have been check several times to make sure they're OK when calling support.
Any suggestions from individuals who have experiences these issue previously and found a solution for the problem would greatly be appreciated.

Hi,
Everytime we move our motorhome to another location we have connection issues using a Winegard Traveler Directv Dish we can't seem to get a connection. The Traveler locks on to the three satellites but we constantly get error codes either 771 or 722. We call Directv support and it doesn't seem like anybody has real life experience with the issue to correct! Directv has support has directed us to Winegard, but Winegard after checking says it's a Directv issue! We're about to dump Directv and go to Dish because nobody in an RV using Dish has the connectivity issues. If anybody has any suggestions we're all ears, so frustrating and it takes usually four calls to Directv before getting somebody with experience who can get us connected but the process starts all over again the next time we move.
Help would be appreciated

771 is a dish alignment issue so there is nothing DTV support can do about it, it is a Winegard problem. If you want the next time it happens check the sat signals.

Directv and Winegard have checked and the dish is locking on the satellites correctly according to the numbers displayed and from what they can tell remotely. Winegard has said it's a Directv issue.

DTV CSRs can only refresh your authorizations, they can't troubleshoot the receivers as the sat signal is only one way. If your signals on the 99/103 sat are in the 80s then it maybe the receiver tuners are going and it needs to be replaced.

How can it be a DirecTV issue? Thousands of customers are using Trav'ler dishes without this issue. Something is wrong with your dish. 771 is a signal reception issue. Perhaps your dish is damaged or bent? It's sad that Winegard is supporting you.

Winegard and DirecTV cannot "remotely" check your dish reception.
Post back your signal readings from the 101, 99 and 103º satellites. If they're not mostly in the high 80-90s, then something is wrong with the dish or cables/connectors.

Is the problem on all channels? Local channels are delivered on spot beams and moving to different geographic area can cause 771.

@Good4u
If you were outside your spotbeam the receiver would show error 727 on local channels.

@detuch254 727 can on a local channel can indicate reception of an unauthorized adjacent DMA. Moving outside of your spot being will indeed cause a 771 on local channels

My prior experience would prove otherwise but if that’s what you’ve observed I won’t dispute it. Just didn’t want to cause confusion over error codes.

I had a chance to bring the motorhome to my house, as always we don't have an issue with error codes when we're at our home base! We're connecting to the following satellites, 101, 110 and 119. The 101 and 119 both have the * in front of the number. All three are showing 98 on the signal strength.
I went to the internet for Directv HD Receiver Setup instructions. Our Directv receiver is an HR24/200. Following the instructions; when I got to step #5, Select "01: SWM" for the switch type, ours was set on multiswitch and the instructions stated set the dish type for "17: Slimline-3S (SWM)" ours was set for SL5 LNB. In the settings we didn't have the settings they say are the correct settings! Step six was to select continue to verify the setup. Doing this ODD 99 and 101 had check markes after, but 103 was red and had an X after it. Under EVEN 99, 101 and 103 all had check markes after. There was a foot note stating: error found both tuners.
Maybe this makes sense to somebody, I don't know if this could be causing 771 error code issue when we're away from our home base or not.
We really appreciate the suggestions or comments

The 110/119 are no longer used for USA programing. You would need a 5LNB to get the 119, the red X mark shows that the 103 is below DTV minimum signal. Please post back the transponder reading or pictures if possible of the 99/103 sats.

I’m having the exact same problem. We are in our same spot as last year but had to get a replacement Receiver. Last year all I had to do was call DIRECTV and ask them to refresh my receiver. This time I got it all set up and then nothing so I called DTV. I was able to get the guide to come up but only a few channels. The rep I was talking with was trying to fix that issue but I never got the guide back, only the 771 error. Long story short…the blame goes to Wineguard. Why must this be so difficult every (Edited per community guidelines) time?

DTV has nothing to do with RVs they only allowed RV dish makers to set up accounts with them. DTV doesn't service or install equipment in them except for the few that are permanently parked.
