direct tv receiver can't connect to my wireless network

Got a new receiver today, after DirecTV tech setup the TV side, I then tried to set up a wireless connection between my Spectrum wireless network and this receiver, still can not do it. I've reset the network a few times, reboot spectrum modern and router as well, still, the receiver CAN see the network name, after I entered the password, still unable to connect.  I know I entered the correct password. please help. By the way, on the receiver, there is a "Network service", I no network service available.

Having the same problem as Bartolli24. The connection was working until a couple of weeks ago when it just stopped connecting???

Called support three time, they were very nice but of no help. They had a tech person come to my house twice, the second tech person replaced the receiver with a new one.

It still did not work. The tech had no idea what was wrong.

what is model of receiver, what frequency band are you using, and what is the encryption type on your wifi.

Any of these things could be the issue.

Directv receiver is a HR54-500. Spectrum router frequency bands are 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz .

Just for grins, turn off the 5GHz WiFi at the router (can turn on after set up), and see if it works.

Also could possibly be your wireless encryption setting on the router.

Greg,

I have no idea how to change settings on my Spectrum router.

Have tried entering my router ip address (http://192.168.0.1) with no luck.

Spectrum may not allow access to their router.??

yep, Spectrum might not give you control, you may have to ask them.. (of course it's often better to have your own router, so you KNOW and CONTROL what gets in and out of your house.

So you cannot change your wi-fi password yourself?

also try https:// just for grins, probably won't make it, you may have to call spectrum... are the ssid's of the 2g and 5 gig the same?

Greg

p.s. why is the first debugging link listed as "Accepted solution" when the problem is not yet solved? That is nuts.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for your input in this issue, I think it's helpful. I'll contact Spectrum Tech support about how to make 2 and 5 GHz. networks. I can change SSID and network password but was unable to create a 2 GHz. network. Meanwhile, my DirecTV receiver, the box name is Comcast Xi 5(Device Name), and the Host Name is Directv-HR54-8c90cfd. Isn't it weird? Why the Comcast name is in it?

Thanks again for your help.

You're correct, @gregeusa. Please contact your internet provider to set up wireless connection, Bartolli24. You may also refer to this link https://www.directv.com/support/article/000087201 to connect your receiver to the wireless network. I'll send you a DM to further assist you with the device name. Christine: you said "unable to create a 2 GHz network".... did you mean you do not have 2 GHz in your spectrum wireless? Very hard to believe...

Do the computers in your house show the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks?
