Cannot delete on streaming app

I cannot figure out how to delete recordings that were recorded on the genie on our direct TV streaming apps on the Apple TVs/iPhone.  I’ve read all the articles but what is being told doesn’t exist.  So can someone please explain how to do this?

You cannot delete from the app. Only from the box itself, or the other rooms if permission is on.

Hi @zerah561. To delete the downloaded recordings from the DIRECTV App, you'll need to set up the option from the receiver by following the directions below:

From the receiver, press MENU > Setup > Whole-home > Share Playlist > Allow Deletion > From All Rooms.

This setting allows deletions from the App. To delete the recordings on the app, refer to the following instructions:

From the Download menu in the App, press and hold on to the program wish to delete.

Just so you know – a pop-up will appear asking if you want to delete and confirm deletion afterward.

To delete the recordings on Apple devices (iOS), hold down the program's icon until it wiggles, then press the "X" to delete it.

We'll send you a DM to discuss this further.

If you have the Genie then you don't have DIRECTV STREAM. Moving to DirecTV (satellite) forum.

Rowena, that option has NOTHING to do with the app. That is just allowing each box/each room permission or not to delete from each other. It is set to all rooms by default.

Juniper, we are unable to delete recordings from our Genie. We connect to Directv via Internet, not the dish. We use the Genie in our living room. We have 2 Directv remote WiFi devices connected to TVs in other rooms. We cannot delete recordings from any TV. Each TV has a Directv remote control. The issue started when we switched from the dish  to Internet connection for Directv. Any suggestions?

Genie is satellite only, not DirecTV by Internet or DIRECTV STREAM. So if you canceled DirecTV (satellite service), and went to one of the streaming-only services, then you don't have a Genie at all.

What are the models of each box you have?

Thanks for your help @Juniper@mann_eric, you might be using a Gemini Device or Gemini Air. You can check https://www.directv.com/support/article/000069768 for more info on how to manage your DVR recordings for DIRECTV STREAM. DIRECTV appreciates you both.

Juniper, I am using a C71KW-400 and (2) PK21KW-500. I cannot delete series or individual recordings. We have tried to cancel the series and delete a single episode at a time. We have swapped out the C71KW-400 per Directv tech support but that did not fix it. Thank you.

If you are using DTV via internet AKA DTV streaming then that is called an Osprey and it doesn't have a hard drive to erase as you are using cloud storage. DTV via internet AKA DTV streaming has its own forum you can try.

@mann_eric

The C71KW is not a Genie, or even a Mini Genie (though it follows the same model structure still being a Client). That is the Gemini (old name Osprey).

The other looks to be the new Gemini Air dongle.

Unlike DirecTV (satellite) the streaming services use a cloud based DVR since Gemini and Gemini Air do not have hard drives for physical storage.

This is the DirecTV (satellite) part of the forum. I would make a new post in the DIRECTV STREAM section as they are different services.
