Can I use my Directv receiver in my RV for a 5 day camping trip?

I have 2 Directv accounts.  1 is at my primary address and the other is at my vacation home.  Can I use one of my boxes for a 5 day camping trip?  There is no internet connection so I can't stream using the Directv app.

Hi, @tcSimmons. No, you can't. RVs require a special satellite dish to get DIRECTV service. Please call Winegard at 866.609.9374 or go to www.winegard.com to get one. Joan, DIRECTV Community Specialist

You can't use your DIRECTV receiver for your RV. You will need to contact your RV dish vendor for more information. Joan, DIRECTV Community Specialist

If you have a Winegard Travler dish then you can use your DTV receiver.  If you have an HS17 Genie you have to take a mini also.

@DIRECTVhelp

Joan sorry but you CAN use a receiver in an RV. We've (customers) have been doing it for years. Even the Genie-2 (HS17) can be used, though not ideal as annoying with a client-only setup. The boxes are the same used as home.

@tcSimmons

With DirecTV's ongoing shutdown of the MPEG-2 feeds, you need a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount, or the Winegard Trav'ler if you want a more automatic option. Receiver/HDDVR should be an H or HR model (or even special R22 if you have the right setup).

Be aware you do not get locals once outside your home spot beam. You would need a regular antenna on your TV if you wanted those. Regional Sport Networks (RSNs) are tied to the spot beam as well, so those wouldn't be available either.
