Can I take my Directv receiver/DVR while camping?
I want to take my Directv receiver/DVR with me when we go camping. I would purchase a satellite dish to use with it. Will I have issues with moving the receiver from my home address?

What model is the receiver? (make sure it is a receiver, not a Mini Genie Client as those cannot work without the main Genie since they are Clients, not receivers).
Dish must be slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount, or the Winegard Trav'ler.
You take the box with you, but do not get locals as those are spot beamed. Will need a regular antenna on your TV for locals within range.

HR44 is the 2nd generation Genie, not a tower. The only tower is the Genie-2 (HS17), which doesn't go on a TV itself as it is a Headless Server tower.
Little boxes are Clients, cannot work while the Genie is away. Though any HD non-DVR or HDDVR receivers would still work.
DirecTV is a one way satellite transmission. They cannot see where the box is at or the usage. As long as you get signal, you can use the service. Temporary for travel in an RV they don't worry about. If you are moving then you place a Movers order, or if have 2 places you setup a second account, as residential service address must match per Federal regulations.

I think the receiver is maybe an HR44. I'm not at home where I can check it. It is the tower and requires the small box on each tv. My concern is Directv monitoring the location of the receiver and interrupting the service if it is moved from my home address.

At home the tower is connected to the internet. Would they get location information from that? The internet connection would only be needed for ordering movies, etc?

HR44 is a HDDVR receiver, not a tower (doesn't stand vertically), as it goes on a TV. I think what you mean is "server". The Genie, Genie Lite, or Genie-2 is a server for any Clients (Mini Genie or RVU) that you have. The Genie-2 (HS17) is the only tower DirecTV has made.
Internet is only used for On Demand, PPV ordering by the remote, and anonymous viewing data, not location. DirecTV does not track physical location. Only thing that might be affected for On Demand is anything that is area specific (locals, sports, etc.).

AFAIK the Gemini Air is for the DTV via internet AKA DTV streaming service, so yes you should be able to use it anywhere there is broadband internet service.
