C71KW-400 Receiver Question

DirecTV satellite question: I recently added the C71KW-400 Gemini to my DirecTV Genie 2. I have an additional C71KW-400 receiver currently set up for DirecTV Stream. Is there any way that unit can be reprogrammed to work with and be added to DirecTV satellite service? It's the same model and I was hoping it could be modified. Thank you.

Unfortunately, you cannot. That is something that directv does with the boxes in their facilities.

This definitely does NOT mean that the future could bring a utility allowing customers to upload firmware to these boxes for satellite use.

Thank you for the prompt response. I thought that might be the case. Too bad, it's the exact same model.

Yes, it is unfortunate. However, I’m sure in the future a developer (or the actual company) will implement a tool allowing subscribers to load the firmware onto the box. Whether this be downloading software on a PC and putting it on a USB device (or something along the lines of that), this definitely isn’t uncalled for..

I will hang onto to the receiver and watch the forum for news.

Try calling DTV to see if you replace the streaming version C71KW for the new satellite version.

as of now , a full reset can convert them to work as DirecTV satellite mini's with your genie.   do a full factory reset and when the Wi-Fi connect screen appears type 2326.

the rest will guide you on screen
