Amazon Fire TV
I have an Amazon Fire TV, but Direct TV does not list this as an acceptable choice for pairing an RC73 Remote. Direct TV doesn't know that this line of TVs exist. When will they update their software to acknowledge that Amazon makes Fire TVs? If not is there any other specific brand that I can use to turn OFF the TV when I turn off the Box?

Well, that CERAINLTY answers that question. /s
Amazon Fire TVs aren't exactly that new. So why is Direct TV not supporting them? The question I asked was if there were some other brand of TV that I could use since DTV doesn't support Amazon where I can sync my remote to use all the functions. I found another brand where all the remoted functions work except when you turn the TV off, the box goes off and then the TV comes back on to show there is no signal.
Excuse the following rant, but I feel like I was brushed off and patronized.
I really don't care that Direct TV cares about all of its customers and is "looking into" providing quality service. That is NOT an answer. It's a mealy-mouth - blow some sunshine in the customer's face and hope they go away.
As I said above Amazon has been around for a while and it isn't a bit player. I certainly HOPE that they are looking to include it. If DTV isn't keeping up with the market and is depending on its customers to do the research for them, then I do have an issue bigger than the one I quoted.

The DIRECTVhelp response could have been a bit more descriptive. The Amazon brand itself has not been integrated, and it certainly isn’t a ‘new’ brand of TVs at all, they’ve been around for at least a year at this point.
Being we are customers like you, we would have no clue when/if DIRECTV plans to add such a brand to their list for pairing with the RC73 remotes and Genie/Genie mini/Gemini receivers.
You COULD TRY the TCL brand, as some have said it works great.

Had "Chat" with DirecTV agent re: Controlling Amazon Fire TV 55" Omni QLED with DirecTV remote RC738. Tried 3+ Brands listed on Settings(one had 21 possibles) for remote and was told Amazon had not yet supplied proper info to be listed.
Had "Chat" with Amazon agent who informed me that DirecTV remote will not control my Amazon Fire TV because it uses RF or IR. Later received email containing this "As we discussed, Directv's remote will control your Fire Stick, it will not. The Fire Stick is controlled via bluetooth signals, and Directv's remotes only put out RF or IR signals."
As usual, I am amused by the "it's not us, it's them" response from both.

One would assume a TV still uses IR codes as most remotes only use IR.

Most yes, but BT is becoming more and more common. My samsungs and LG units use BT, and with smart TVs being "de rigueur" nowadays, they all have BT for keyboards, mice, etc.
So it would be simple to have the Gemini issue BT commands.
But we surely will have to wait years.

The Gemini has BT and I unpaired my Tivo so I could use my IR remote. TVs usually remain in households for years.

Uhh... again your experience seems to be a bit different. 4K TVs are getting cheaper, the new OLED units are great.
With the advances, many people are replacing TVs more often.
Now, maybe you and I are exceptions, I typically buy the very best (also usually the most expensive unfortunately), but they have the new features sooner than the bargains you get at Costco.
By far we are not the norm.
