What I did was disconnect everything and turned off power then connected the hdmi cable from tv to receiver and turned power on so far everything is ok.

Everything works just fine until I pause pause the TV to go get something to drink or whatever and come back and turn it on but there's no sound. If I fast forward and get back to Live TV the sound comes back on. But I shouldn't have to do that just to get sound back on the TV.

I've recently gotten an issue where if I pause a show, the picture will cut out. Sound will play if I resume, but there's no video output. It works fine as long as it's live TV but the moment I hit pause to do something quick, the picture is gone and I can't get it back until I reset the reciever.

Yeah. Same thing. We change input sources to something else and back to directv and it works again.
ive also changed to use SAP and it takes five to ten seconds or so and the sound comes on. Then change it back to English and takes five to ten seconds for sound to come back on
Actually just tested another way. Unpaused it. No sound. Went to sound settings and turned Dolby off then back on and sound came on.
definitely a directv software bug that was introduced several months back.

I’m having the same issue on all my tvs (I have three). If I pause Directv and come back…. No sound.
It’s not my connections because it’s all the tvs, it’s definitely the Directv. The tvs don’t do it with Netflix or other apps.
I’ve restarted my receiver with no change.

We as well having the same issues. Its been about 2 weeks now. It’s only with the pausing of a show with direct tv. We do not have the issue with Netflix, Hulu or any of the our streaming services. We’ve gone thru every connection and now I see other direct tv users are having the same issue. Any patch or fix for this issue coming out direct tv??

It’s definitely a directv bug
for a quick fix, you can click info, scroll to audio/video, scroll to English Dolby audio and click it.
the problem stems from their screensaver. Their latest update must have done something with audio and it messes up Dolby audio. Simple fix. Dumb that their testing never found this issue. Even dumber that they haven’t released a fix yet

I have the same problem (no audio after pause). I disabled Dolby Audio but it's still happening? Is there a fix from Directv for this? Should I have a Directv technician come out?

Hi @DIRECTVhelp yes, I have done those things. In addition, I have an AppleTV device connected to the TV as well and I never have the problem when watching content on AppleTV. When the problem happens on Directv (always after pausing), I have to skip back 10 secs and it works. It only started happening around the beginning of this year sometime.
