Advanced Receiver Services (ARS) DIRECTV (via Internet and Satellite)

DIRECTV via Internet:

 

DIRECTV via Internet with advanced receiver service & the Gemini Device offer a premium customer experience.

 

Advance Receiver Service Fee:

·        Single monthly charge.

o   Only one $15 fee covers all DIRECTV devices.

o   Service combines DVR, HD, and Whole-Home services into one service.

·        Simple seamless streaming.

o   Toggle through thousands of 3rd party apps without switching inputs.

·        Integrated voice remote.

o   Ask Google to search Live TV, On Demand titles, & more with voice commands.

·        Access to 4K picture quality.

o   Stream in 4K on compatible 3rd party apps.

·        Premium remote.

o   Easy navigation with Gemini’s full numeric keypad, guide, & previous channel buttons.

 

As of April 6, 2023, the ARS applies to all new and reconnect DIRECTV via Internet accounts. (This does not apply to DIRECTV STREAM (BYOD) accounts.)

 

 

DIRECTV via Satellite:

 

ARS gives you access to all the cutting-edge features available from DIRECTV via Satellite based on your equipment (DVR, HD, HD-DVR, Gemini, or Genie).

 

·        ARS allows you to record, pause, slow-motion, fast-forward, and rewind live TV and recorded shows.

o   Whole-Home DVR: Watch, record, delete, pause, and rewind your favorite shows in HD from any room with a single HD-DVR.

§  This requires a Genie HD DVR and one Genie Mini for each additional TV, or a DIRECTV HD DVR and an HD receiver for each additional TV.

o   Access to HD Programming.

o   DIRECTV App: Use your iPad, iPhone, or Android phone to watch programs currently airing on DIRECTV channels.

·        There is only one monthly Advanced Service fee no matter how many receivers are active on an account.

·        DIRECTV via Satellite customers taking advantage of DIRECTV Protection Plan can look to upgrade to latest technology with one equipment upgrade every two years.

 

As of January 23, 2023, the ARS applies to all new and reconnecting DIRECTV via Satellite accounts set up with an All Included package.

 

·        Previously was based on the type of advanced receivers on the account and the account creation date.

·        Fee can't be removed from the account.

 

The ARS allows customers to take advantage of the full DIRECTV experience, such as HD recording, ability to connect to Internet, ability to download and use apps*, and ability to share recorded content with other HD receivers/Gemini throughout the home.

 

·        *Only available to Gemini receivers.

 

Whole-Home functionality requires HD-DVR receiver/Genie and at least one HD receiver (DIRECTV via Satellite only).

If I only stream DirecTV and put the Gemini devices in a drawer, can the $15/month ARS fee be taken off my bill.

AFAIK so long as you have DTV equipment the fee is applied.  You may need to go with DTV streaming using your own streaming devices.

DirecTV (traditional satellite service) and the newer DirecTV via Internet provide you required equipment and have a similar billing model where those fees are not removable.

DIRECTV STREAM is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) model. Use your chosen streaming device (Roku, Firestick, etc.). It does not deal with those additional fees or 24 month service agreement.
