Not sure what you mean. Your HR54 can record 4K broadcasts on the few 4K channels. But you need a compatible Genie Client box to actually view them on a 4K TV. What equipment do you have?

Hi, @shohead. You can keep your DVR while watching 4K shows or content, and here's what you need to watch shows and movies in 4K Ultra HD:
1. A Genie HD DVR (Model HR54 or above) connected to the internet
2. A 4K-compatible TV (like A DIRECTV 4K Ready TV) connected to a 4K Genie Mini receiver
3. DIRECTV Select or Mas Latino package and above

AFAIK DirecTv ready TVs are no long being made and they didn't need a mini connected to them.

You need a C61K or a C71WK mini client connected to the 4K TV to watch the 4K channels in 4K.

I have ONE newer Samsung 60" 4k tv. Other TV isn't used and has no cable or Sat and doesn't need it.
My Samsung has ONE box, the HR24.

You said one TV has an HR24 HD DVR. And you have an HR54 Genie DVR. If you want to view 4K channels you will need to get a C61K or C71KW to view those channels on its connected TV.

I'm going to make this as clear as I can. I have a HR54-200 DVR! It's 12 years old at least
It's only hooked up to ONE THING, my SAMSUNG 65-inch Class QLED Q90T Series. That's it. No other box! I just want to know keeping my HR54-200 DVR how to get 4K. if I can.

So your previous reply that mentioned the HR24 was a typo?
Regardless, you need a C61K or C71K if you want 4K channels.

They are both mini clients but the C71WK can both be wired or wireless with the added WVB and can stream programs from the internet using apps from the streaming services with their subscriptions without having to change the TV input/source. The C61K is wired only.

So with either one I use my DVR as I do know? Can I also record 4k shows onto the HR54 DVR?
