VIP Account

Does anyone know what it takes to get VIP Encoded onto my account ? been a customer since 1995 and have a 5 digit account number to prove it...

Any help would be appreciated.

What makes you think there is a VIP encoded account?  DTV doesn't have group discounts.  If you mean adding their Perks program you need to log into you account to add it.

because a month ago I got a discount by loyalty and they told me to wait till OCT 1 and call and ask for VIP so I did and DTV Person said my account isnt 'marked' as a VIP even knowing my account # is only 5 digits long..

Agent told you that to get you off the phone. No agent can promise what discounts may be available the next day, let alone a month later. They just made it the next agent's problem.

You could have gotten DirecTV a year prior when they started and wouldn't be any more special than a 5 year customer. Any promotions are based on your individual account, not grouped into categories (i.e. VIP). Your account history (tenure, promotions had, revenue to company, etc.) may be factors in what may be offered, out of what is available to begin with (they aren't creating promos out of thin air as it all designated by system).

In the end, DirecTV is luxury entertainment. If you want a lower bill than it is up to you to make changes to your service to be comfortable for your budget. A while back a financial review was done and determined too much was given out in discounts or some got discounts for too long, so they pulled back a lot of promos for a while. Now it should be within reason, but never expect any promotions to be permanent.

Now with the announcement of DirecTV buying Dish, I wonder how this will factor in going forward.
