They’re dishonest

They don’t tell you all the information you need to know when purchasing over the phone. I was told I would get NFL Sunday ticket and could cancel anytime. What they didn’t tell me was that it was a 2 year contract. They told me I could cancel anytime, and I told them I just had it till the season was over. They completely lied. Probably because the employees are payed by commission, so they have incentive to lie.

When you first signed up for satellite service you agreed to the contract. While I would agree those agents aren’t 100% the smartest, you should have definitely read the signup information. Right on the website under each package is a disclaimer showing the price increase after the first year as well as the need to sign a two year contract.

As this is a public forum full of customers just like you, we can’t change anything at this point as far as your contract unfortunately. If you decide to cancel early, you pay $20 for each month left on the contract.

But it was on a phone call and she told me the info incorrectly. She was clearly trying to get more commission by getting me to buy when she knew she was lying. I’m going to the better business bureau tomorrow to complain about the business malpractice. Either that or I want the transcripts of the phone conversation to prove I was lied to

They tell all new customers you are agreeing to a 2 year contract. They tell you when you do an equipment upgrade you are agreeing to a 2 year contract. They tell when you move and you need to move your satellite with you that you are in a one year contract.

Yeah I’ve filed a complaint to the BBB because the lady I was on the phone with did not tell me that. Also, neither did any of the emails I received. I went back and checked just to be sure

Also, these comments supporting directv just aren’t accurate. They don’t tell you much at all. The email barely tells you what the terms and conditions even are besides “Terms and conditions may apply including fees” but they don’t tell you how much these fees are, and they only show what you’re purchasing in one small email that you would have to look up in order to know what you’re buying. But I called and was lied to, so I did not purchase it through the site. I had NO WAY of knowing because the person that sold it to me lied about the information

Yes the comments supporting Direct TV are because some us like myself have been with Direct TV for 22 years. When I moved two years ago and set up the appointment they told me on the phone I would be locked into a one year contract. Then when I got the paperwork it said two years. So I called them and Direct TV clarified it was a one year contract and noted my account.
