Telephone offer, offering 50% off Directv- is this legitimate?

Did the offer involve buying gift cards or paying up front?  Those are a scam.

It was a message left on my voicemail.  No mention about gift cards or paying up front.  Caller asks you to call them back at a specific number.  I’m trying to find out if Directv actually authorizes this?  I would venture to believe they do not. Just wanted to know if anyone knows for sure.  I will most likely have to call DTV to get the right answer.  

Don't bother AT&T's CEO stated months ago there will be no more discounts for existing customers.

It is April 9th, 2021 and we just got a call about Direct tv being able to offer us a discount.  The catch was that they wanted $199 and our credit card number to enable us to get the monthly discount.   We refused to give it to them and they were pretty good and convincing but i told them if they couldn’t put the charge on our account we were not interested.    

Good for you for being firm. It’s a scam, DTV doesn’t make offers by phone.  Report it as spam. I don’t even respond to this type of garbage. They’re criminals.  

I just received the phone call, they asked for my four digit pass code.  When I said NO, the call ended.  The phone number they called from comes up on Google as a number for a glasses len's maker.  What a bunch of losers, what could they possibly want with my account?

Just received a phone call from 800-567-7350, which if you look it up on Google comes back to Scleral Lens Training | Blanchard Contact Lenses.  The recorded voice asked me for my four digit pass code, I tried typing it in and the voice said no, no just say it.  I said NO and the call immediately ended.

I don't get what they will achieve by knowing the code.  Yes, they can get into my account but ATT/DirecTV isn't going to give them any financial info.  Flippin Losers!!!

They can then call in and make changes to your account, which is part of the scam. 

If they can get you to reveal you account info they can also get you to reveal other info that can be used to steal you ID.
