Reconnect Promo Offer

Not sure what has happen at DirecTV.  I have been a continuous subscriber for 15 years.  I received an email that stated I could reconnect with the Entertainment Package at $65 a month + $15 Advance receiver fee + $7 for second receiver and receive a $100 Visa Card no commitment price good for 24 months.  I clicked the link and filled out all of the info that was asked of me.  The next day I get a phone call to confirm what I selected.  After on the phone with some dude from Texas for 45 minutes the offer was not what was in the email, it was substantially more!  He wanted to charge me $15 ARF, $10 HD, $10 DVR, $3 Whole Home and $14 for two receivers.  My total bill for the Entertainment Package included taxes was $111, clearly DirecTV was not upfront with their pricing in the email.   In addition I haven't had a CBS channel (WYOU 22) since October of 2022, of course he had no info as to why.   He asked me if I wanted to upgrade to the Choice package, I said no unless you offer NBC Sports of Philadelphia as the local RSN (I don't want YES, SNY or Pittsburgh).  He had no answer as to why its not carried other than saying he is a football fan and not a baseball fan.

Two years ago I paid $73 for Choice with RSN and two receivers and I was happy with the programing I received.  Now I was offered Choice at $137 including RSN and two receivers, that is a 47% increase for less programing.  What is with the false advertising and the extreme price increases?

You definitely should not have been sent such a misleading email. DIRECTV, like other providers, has an annual rate increase to reflect the constant increase in channel owner rebroadcasting fees to carry channels/content. I would stay away from any email promotions as Entertainment would never be that cheap.

Reconnect Promo Offer
Hi jdeday, Our customers are always top of mind while negotiating with content companies. We work hard to offer the best value, which is tougher to do as costs and competition keep climbing. The charges that you mentioned, like ARF and DVR, are listed on our website under the Packages lead because those are additions to the basic package. In reference to the RSN channels, it is right that they are no longer carried out because of a Congress regulation on local channels. Please contact us with any further assistance you may need.

The email did have fine print which I did read.  $15 for advance receiver and $7 for additional receivers.   This is what I paid in the past and I had HD and DVR + Whole Home.

I began service in 2007 and had service continuously.
This is what I grabbed from the web site.  $15 receiver services, $7 for additional TV.
This is not what was offered over the phone today.
And the DirecTV rep that responded above did not elaborate on why I haven't had my CBS station since 10/22 and why they don't office NBC Sportsnet Philadelphia
