Nexstar Negotiations
I am very angry that my local Fox station, WGHP TV FOX 8, has been removed and cannot be viewed at this time. This station is my favorite local station for local news and sports programming. I have been a loyal Directv customer for a number of years but I do have other options in my area and some much cheaper. If this is not cleared up soon I will go to another provider. I have been.very satisfied with your service even recommended your service. However right now I am angry. Also I was really looking forward to watching the MLB All-Star game in a week. If it appears this problem is not going to be worked out by then I will change to another provider. This is not fair to your customers. All it comes down to is money, more money for you. I do expect a response from you and for the sake of your service to your customers this problem should be resolved immediately. I also think you owe your customers a refund for everyday our favorite station is off the air.

Your local Fox channel 8 removed their feed to DTV because DTV will not pay them what they are asking to renew the contract, which is why your bill goes up ever year. Read the TOS about channels and programing are subject to change at anytime.

Nonsense, our bills go up anyway. Mine has doubled since I first had Directv installed. Just get my programming back please. I have other options, cheaper options, but I kept Directv because it was good service. However if I don't get my favorite local station back I will be forced to change providers.

This is a customer to customer forum, your Fox station will be back when they sign a new contract. Cost always go up but would you prefer a $10 or a $20 or more increase which is what will happen if DTV just caves in and pay what they are asking.

I want my station back and soon. Like I said Directv doesn't need to raise pricing. They raise their prices just to make more money whenever they want to anyway. I don't go out very often so my TV is my entertainment. I want to be able to watch what I want when I want. I put up with the interruptions during rainstorms and now this with no refunds. Refunds should be given in this case because this didn't need to happen.

Demanding your station back soon won’t make it happen. How about you contact your local station and tell them to restore their feed? After all, they are the ones that pulled it. Directv is more than willing to continue carrying the channel while they negotiate. In any event, there won’t be any refunds. Directv might offer a bill credit at some point but no refunds.

Couldn't agree more just another liberal group nonsense. Not letting Americans make their own choices.

I dont care what they own. If I am in a contract with them for channels I pay for 12 month period. I don't give a (Edited per community guidelines) about their negotiations. That is their buisness problems not mine, if my bill is paid monthly.
Just like if I canceled my contract prior to the deadline they would charge me. So why is this justifiable for them because they are a "Corporation ".

Read the TOS it states that channels and programing are subject to change at anytime and agreed to the 2 year cancellation fee when you choose to sign when DTV was installed.

All TV providers go through this whether you have Satellite, Cable or even Streaming. Hulu TV and Youtube TV just went through this with Nexstar and they pulled the feed on them too. It does not matter what TV provider you go through most likely you will have channels that are owned by Nexstar and they will be pulled at some point in time when renegotiations come about. The only way to avoid this is with an over-the-air antenna. Just so everyone knows Directv is offering a $10 one-time credit for people that are affected by this outage.

It's the greedy corporations that own local stations (like Nexstar) that pulled your channels. They want more and more and more money to deliver FREE over-the-air stations. It's killing satellite/cable providers as they're forced to pass along those ever-increasing fees.
Learn the truth about these exorbitant retransmission fees here ....

All these providers should be listed as scammers we cannot even get internet with direct TV. But our bill keeps skyrocketing out of control. Then when we're late paying the bill it conveniently loses signal with the "wireless" ( oh ok) box. There are over 500 houses in our development but no internet providers. We love our local news too all the other stations are in New York or LA. This whole situation is (Edited per community guidelines). If I had decent internet I definitely would not have direct TV or Dish or Verizon. They are all scammers and tack on more and more charges. 🤬🤬🤬🤬.

Everyone I would stop fighting with Direct TV over channel 8. You can move your service to Dish, get a $300 gift card for switching, receive channel 8 and my bill is actually going to be lower by about $30 a month and I'll have more channels. It's a no brainer. I will be calling Direct TV to cancel in a week or two. The only reason I haven't yet is that they prorate their bill and I am stuck paying until the end of the month regardless of when I cancel which is another thing that (Edited per community guidelines) me off about Direct TV. Ever since they were bought by AT&T they have gone to crap quickly. I was a customer for over 20 year and this channel 8 thing and losing NFL Sunday Ticket was the final straw for me.

You don't pay per month, you are paying for you billing cycle that started the day you where installed then on day 2 the bill is made and sent (or payed if you are on auto pay) on day 20 the bill is due. While you can cancel at anytime it doesn't go into effect until the end of your billing cycle. Dish is not immune to the renewing of the contracts with locals and nationwide channels.

We can go back and forth over channel 8 negotiations and I get it. Dish’s turn will come and I’ll worry about that when it happens. What we can’t dispute is I will be getting more channels, more features, a $300 gift card, more powerful DVR and a lower bill. That’s enough for me. Getting channel 8 is a bonus for me right now I guess because Direct TV doesn’t even have it. I pay for locals but don’t get locals and you want me to be inconvenienced by installing an antennae? That’s why I’m leaving Direct TV they just don’t care.
