The "umm" was to show my confusion. Perhaps you had a unique case situation, so I wasn't judging simply asking as your starting question did not make sense initially.
DirecTV is a TV service. It is not internet or email. Has nothing to do with spam.
DirecTV has been TV-only since it started in 1994 (just over 30 years ago), around the time the World Wide Web was born (though internet in a more limited sense existed for years before that). Nothing about technology to be up on, just be aware of what you have and what it is for.
One last comment - even though I did ask you a direct question that you could have answered quite easily, you didn't. You spouted info that is useless to me. Fortunately I got a simple, straitforward reply from someone else.
I did not feel the need to parrot my fellow ACE's response.
However, do to your apparent lack of understanding of DirecTV vs spam I stand by the additional info would be useful to you. Whether you choose to learn from it or ignore it instead is up to you.
If you have further questions, I will endeavor to keep any responses limited to the question only regardless of any additional context if that would work better for you.
I'm not touchy. I responded in a logical manner to your response and preferences to how you answered.
However you do seem a bit focused on the concept of age (75, kid). Like my fellow ACEs, I am only here to help and provide a realistic perspective.
You asked a question about DirecTV (a TV service) in regards to a app for spam (the internet equivalent of junk mail) showcasing you lacked a basic understanding of the current world that has existed for at least over 30 years. Then you took offense that info was provided to hopefully prevent further misunderstandings in the future. Also you felt it was unkind to say "umm" (which as I said I used to showcase my confusion, not as an attack or such), and in that exact reply used the term yourself (so a bit hypocritical).
I would suggest, take a breath and understand that the world isn't out to get you when it doesn't conform to your precise view.

Your DirecTV service won't be affected by spam. That's between you and your email provider.
