I’m being charged for premium channels
I’ve been a directv customer off and on for years. They are my current TV provider since 2019. In March of 2022 I agreed to a 3 months fee promo of starz Cinemax and showtime. The promo ended in may so I called a week or so before the end date and canceled. Everything seemed fine until I got my bill. I was being charged $36 and change for starz Cinemax and HBO max. I called immediately and told them I had canceled the promotion prior to the due date and that I don’t have access to starz and Cinemax(I kept HBO max) but I am still being charged. The representative assured me that the channels had been canceled and that I would no longer be billed for this. Well the next bill rolls around and there is the $36 and change charge for starz Cinemax and HBO max. So I called them back. They credited the $36 back to my account and swore that it was canceled AGAIN. Well the next bill comes in and there is the same $36 and change charge. Call back and get the same spill how they are canceling the premium channels and I wouldn’t have to worry anymore. Mind you, I don’t have access to these Channels at all. When I go to starz or Cinemax it shows me the steps to subscribe. It is now almost February 2023 and every single month I have still been charged for these premium channels. One lady in billing flat acted like I was lying to them about having access to the channels and acted like I was somehow at fault for the cancellations not going thru. Basically like I was trying to scam Directv to get credits on my bill or something. I’ve filed a complaint with directv but nothing had changed and I don’t feel like it will. What is my recourse?? Can I just cancel my service with them. Who can I talk to about this. Someone that can actually help me. It’s literally caused me severe anxiety having to call these people every month and re-explain all this mess.

Probably time to file a complaint with the BBB.

So when you log into your account and look at your programming, do you see those premiums listed? How exactly did you accept the promotion? I’m wondering if there is something about the promotion that causes those premiums to get re-added. In any event, agree that a BBB complaint is the way to go and to answer your question, yes, you can cancel service. If you’ve been with them since 2019, there shouldn’t be an ETF.

So I just talked to directv and they took $23 off of my bill. She swore that it won’t be on there again next billing cycle. I was going to cancel but decided against it. She did confirm that I am not under any type of contract so I won’t have anything but my monthly bill to worry about paying if I do cancel. Fingers crossed now I guess. Hopefully next month it’s finally off of my bill.

I just received my new bill and the charges are still on there. This is after I’ve talked to them at least 10 or 11 times over the past few months and they all swear that the charges won’t be on my next bill. I just finished filing a complaint with the BBB. I can’t believe this is still happening. It honestly doesn’t make sense how a company like Directv that is so reputable can keep doing a loyal customer like this. I’m at an end with it. Pretty sure I’m going to switch to YOUTUBE TV.
