how do i get a refund for overpayments when I switched from DT to Stream?

I received bills from DT and Stream and paid them both due to paperless billing by two different methods and two different times of the month. I have back up for returning the equipment to DT but no satisfactory resolution for the refund.

Did you call and cancel DirecTV? The two services have nothing to do with each other.

And are you being charged for the service month that started after you called to cancel, or are you disputing overlapping days of service? This matters as the bill does not prorate, so you pay for the entire service month even if you called within the first couple days as cancellation goes through at the end of the service month (even if you returned equipment prior to the end).

Yes, you can't "switch" from one service to another. They are separate services with separate billing. If you cancelled DirecTV then their cancellation policy applies, which means you pay to the end of the service month.  Just because you started Stream does not mean you get a refund from Directv. This is no different from cancelling Directv and going to Dish.

Most service providers have the same policy.
