How do I file a fraud claim?

AFNI collection agency sent a letter and we determined my identity was stolen and a fraudulent account with Direct TV was set up.  They said I needed to call 800 860 8542.  I do not trust any of this information and do not want to call an unknown # and give my social security #. I need to know I am talking to a legit AT&T rep.

Hi I am frustrated and very (Edited per community guidelines) off right now. I have been what I believe been a victim of identity theft. Somebody opened up an account in my name in 2019 I have gotten Experian alerts every six months from a different collection agency every time. It happened again yesterday it has ruined my credit up to 60 points each time. I know where it's originating from. And this is the fourth time it's happened it's like every six months I get a fraud alert on my credit report. I'm done I'm over it and I need immediate help to somehow close that account because it is active until 2026 I'm at my wits and I don't know what else to do

I have also been a victim of Identity Fraud. This is the second time from Direct TV. When I looked into it, this is the same case that I already proved to be fraudulent 6 months ago. I have sent a case in to Direct TV Case # 220805-000155- I have not heard anything back. So today, I submitted the case again. I take my good name and credit VERY seriously. I am not willing to fight this fraud from Direct TV every six months to clear my name over and over. After reading reports on this link, I am considering initiating a class action lawsuit against Direct TV for indiscriminately harming people's reputations by repeated selling old fraudulent debt to collection agencies. Someone needs to contact me ASAP!

This is a customer to customer forum, nobody will call you and you are limited to binding arbitration.

Thanks! I have NO binding agreement with Direct TV. I was never their customer. I was frauded by someone who used my name. I am going to be contacting attorneys to make sure that I am never contacted by a collection agency on behalf of Direct TV again. This was the second time that I was contacted in 6 months for an already resolved fraud case. I take my good name and credit very seriously. If Direct TV is going to continue to sell already resolved fraud cases to collection agencies, then they are tampering with my good name. I see a class action case building.

AFAIK once DTV sells the debt to a collection agency they delete the account info.
