Guy with a DirecTV logo shirt showed up at our door
My husband had a guy show up at our door yesterday, claiming to be a DirecTV representative. He was stating that we may qualify for a senior discount, and requested to see our bill. Fortunately, my husband didn't have ready access to this information, and told the guy I could provide it, but I wouldn't be home until after six. He said he'd come back at 7.
I came home and my first question was, "Why was he asking for a copy of the bill? If he works for DirecTV, he would have access to that information." The guy ended up being a no show.
Are you all doing this kind of cold calls on existing customers?

Just because someone shows up at your door wearing a shirt with a logo on it does not mean they represent the company they claim to work for! I.D. should always be asked for when a person shows up at your door. Plus never give out any personal information without first verifying that they actually work for the company that they claim to work for. There are many scammers that look to take advantage of people seniors especially. As far as the shirt goes you can buy Directv Logo shirts online or people can make them and they would look like something that an employee wear. Also, Directv never sends people door to door nor do they make phone calls to people regarding their bills or for signing up for service. I hope this helps.

They had an ID badge. But, like the shirt, that can be manufactured. Only calling the customer service number on our contract would we be able to verify his credentials.
