Free MLB 2023, yet being charged?
I was glad to see the email announcing that MLB Extra Innings is being given for free in 2023.
However, I was confused and annoyed to see a bill a few days later that still had a charge for installment 1 of 6 for MLB 2023. I had this sports package in 2022, so it's obviously a renewal.
Is anyone else having the same problem? I don't understand how a company can tell me that something is free, yet charge me for it a few days later.
I tried to get an answer from a variety of ways. Chat didn't have access to the right info, the first phone rep pretty much accused me of lying about the email offer since she didn't see that offer in her system, and the phone supervisor had no idea how I would be credited but assured me I would (even if they end up charging me all 6 installments).

Call DIRECTV again ( number in my greeting below) and say ‘billing’ to the robot. This department is specifically designed for your current issue, to clear up billing concerns. If that doesn’t get you anywhere a BBB complaint may also get your MLB charge cleared.

Thanks. Billing was horribly unhelpful. Eventually got sent to a loyalty rep who was more helpful.
It's clear that the communication about promotions to phone reps is lacking. Not a single person I talked to had any idea about offers for free MLB. Yet I got an email about it, it shows up as a banner when I login to my account, and it shows up in my program guide.
The job of these CSR and loyalty reps is thankless enough normally, and made even worse so when the tools they have to work with doesn't match up with offers made to customers.
I really need to start looking into dish-cutting and streaming options. The crazy amount I pay DTV these days is quickly no longer matching the hassle.

Sorry it didn’t work out the first time, but at least you were sent to a more educated agent from the retention/loyalty department.
Unfortunately, the costs of traditional cable/satellite services does continue to rise every year, so it’s much easier (with the right WiFi speeds) to just subscribe to a live TV streaming service as you state. There are many out there, including DIRECTV STREAM which has the same channel numbers as the satellite service as well as a handy remote and fast streaming box.

I was lied to about free MLB extra innings. I was told by the agent I spoke with plus I received a post card saying that I would receive it for free. I spoke to several so called Retention people and a supervisor that said I wasn't able to get it for free. 13 year customer that will be going to another company. No NFL sunday ticket anymore to force my hand.
