Call DIRECTV SATELLITE (number in my greeting below) and say ‘cancel’ to the robot to be sent to the loyalty/retention department.
Any months left on a contract must be paid. If you aren’t currently in a contract, this should not be an issue. However, if you moved recently or added a receiver these both trigger a contract. For every month left on the contract you pay $20.
All leased equipment gets returned to a participating FedEx or UPS Store. Upon cancellation DIRECTV should send you an email prompting you to return specific receiver models (or all) via either shipping provider. Don’t send back coaxial cables, HDMI cables, any outside technology like the dish, splitters, and wiring (you own this), etc.
DIRECTV only asks you bring the receiver, power cord, and remote. BE SURE to keep the return receipt as this is PROOF OF YOUR RETURN. If there are issues in the future (if DIRECTV thinks you never returned equipment and tries to charge a non-return equipment fee) you can DEFINITELY use the receipt as proof. Therefore, take it and keep for a long time just in case.
