DirecTv Refuses To Honor Agreement

In December, I moved to a new home and attempted to switch from DirecTv satellite to streaming. I wanted to make this switch because a technician failed to show up at my new residence as promised to install the new equipment.  I started using the streaming application instead and after two weeks I decided to continue with it. When I called to make the switch, I was given several discounts by the customer service representative and decided to continue with satellite service. I received a confirmation email which listed all the charges and discounts for the new satellite service and that I would agree to a two year service contract. However, I received my bill and noticed only one of the promised discounts had been applied. I made several calls to DirecTv customer service in an attempt to resolve the discrepancy. Yesterday evening, after unsuccessfully convincing DirecTv to honor their agreement, I instructed the customer service representative to cancel the service. I was told that I would be responsible for an early termination fee for canceling the service  prior to the end of the two year period.

I have been a DirecTv customer for 20 years! I am disappointed and frustrated with this turn of events. I don't think I should be responsible for any termination fee since DirecTv broke their own agreement.

Semaphore, we apologize for the bad experience you previously had over the phone. This is not the way we want you to feel, and we'd like to honor our word by reviewing the promotions you were offered. We're sending you a PM to further investigate this.  Dylan, DIRECTV Community Specialist

There is no switching, you cancel DTV then sign up for DTV via internet.

A move order only has a 1 yrs contract.

The 2yr agreement would either be from a specific discount or an upgrade of equipment.

In any case switching from DirecTV (satellite) to DIRECTV STREAM is not the issue. The problem is they were quoted, and got email confirmation, of a variety of discounts to continue with satellite but not all were on that following bill.

Either they get this resolved with the official forum help team that sent a DM/PM, call DirecTV and speak to the retention department to look into it (say "cancel" at the voice prompt), or as a last resort file a BBB complaint to send this to upper management (usually contacted by the Office of the President within a few business days).
