DirectTV account/ streaming app

Can you use a Direct TV account to access the Direct TV streaming app at a second resident?

No. DirecTV and DirecTV Stream are 2 different paid subscription services. Credentials across the services are not transferrable.

There is only one app now and yes you use that app to stream most of the DTV sat subscription channels to a device that is compatible with the app.

@shannon02 Is it not true now that if you are away from your home base, that the content is very limited since the device does not see your receiver?

AFAIK DTV has not add streaming from the DVR to the app yet but some posts say they can, but most channels in your channel package can be streamed to the app..

I know in the old days, it used to be only mobile devices could stream away from home. HDMI devices were not supported away from home if the receiver was present to confirm. I understand with the changes that have taken place with streaming devices supported with a satellite subscription and the sharing of a common app, but I was not aware that content like locals and sports were available outside the home with the service If all of that is true, why would one even consider "DirecTV Via Internet"?

Sports and local channels are some of the channels that may not be streamable from the sat subscription to the app.

If I am comprending Shannon's response correctly, then I am able to use my Direct TV account (satellite) at my second residence to stream Direct TV service using the streaming app. (Forgive my ignorance of all things dealing with this technology we have today. I am of an age that all this stuff is "Greek" to me. I just do the best I can if there is not a grandchild around to help.)  Any help with how I accomplish this is appreciated.

Yes, but I believe content (channels, etc.) will be limited. Probably local channels, sports, etc. That is because you are out of home and the device can not see your receiver to verify your location.

Most of the DTV sat channels can be streamed to the app.  There is no longer what was called the DTV streaming app it is just called the DTV app.
