The problem with that Direct TV is not Available on the weekends. Says they are but you get on hold that no one answers. My Direct TV was paid for a week ago tomorrow and I've had no service since Wednesday of the same week. They were supposed to be sending me a new box because they updated my service and the box from 2020 is too old for the update so even though it is paid for no service.
The bigger issue is that boxes from 2020 are just fine. Sounds suspiciously you fell for a scam that is rather common right now. That also makes it concerning where you sent your payment.
The only required replacement of boxes is if you have MPEG-2/SD-only. And since SD-only service stopped being offered in late 2015, that is well before the box you have which should already be MPEG-4/HD capable. That says you got scammed.
If you want further guidance from those experienced with equipment and services, than start a new thread. This one is from 2019 and asking about logging into an app which has nothing to do with your situation.

There's no "access code". You use your DirecTV account credentials with the Fox News App.

Tech support is 24/7 and billing closes a midnight ET 7 days a week.

DirecTV is available all 7 days of the week. But they aren't 24 hours for billing and account, just tech support.
