Can't complete sign up

Trying to create an account. When I put in my billing address, which is my home address -- and yes, it's a house, and it's valid -- it tries to force me to fill in the "optional" address2 field. Honestly, I'm about to walk away from the whole thing; if DirecTV can't get something right that's as important to their business model as creating an account, how bad is their tech on things that might consider less important but that might be important to me?

I guess I should also add that if requiring posting to a community forum and hoping someone replies is how DirecTV provides "support," it really is an insight into how little they value customers.

We apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing trying to sign up. Sign up errors can be caused by a lot of factors. Clearing browsing data, like cookies and caches, is a common way to freshen up your browser. Here’s how:

1. Launch your web browser.
2. Go to the History menu, or select Ctrl+Shift+Del if using a PC.
3. Select the items you'd like to clear from the browsing history.
4. Select the Delete or Clear button.
5. Close your browser and reopen it.

Are you signing up for DIRECTV via Satellite or DIRECTV via Internet?

Right. It was a fresh browser session and a newly-created account, so "cookies" isn't the problem here; it's clearly on your end. Nevertheless I tried that and it didn't solve the problem. So run through your victim-blaming scripted responses and then get back to me with an honest response.

Or don't -- at this point, I have pretty much zero desire to become a DirecTV customer.

You could always call them to sign up.

Signing up for the service should be easy, and we'd love to have you in our family. Depending on which type of service you order, several factors may affect the information in the address. Are you encountering any error messages or error codes? Claudine, DIRECTV Community Specialist

@litzdog911 I would have been open to that if that was a support option presented to me when I was trying to sign up. Instead I eventually found my way here on my own, where after a considerable delay, they get back to me with "delete your cookies" -- a completely nonsensical answer based on the problem. This speaks poorly of their product, their support, and their customer service.

And again, it raises a valid question: If this is what their customer service is when I am *trying* to give them my money, what would it be like if I had a support issue and they already *had* my money?

So, thank you for taking the time to try and help with your suggestion. It's appreciated. But at this point, I'm done and have gone with another provider.

Claudine, in case it's helpful to someone else in the future, I filled in my information on the billing screen and hit submit. It tries to process and then comes back and tells me that I have to fill in the "optional" address2/unit number field. There is no unit number; this is my home and it's a single-family house that's been here for almost 100 years. I cleared all my cookies, closed tabs, restarted the browser, and tried again -- same result.
