Billing Issues - wont issue a refund on credit balance
I was a DirecTV customer for over 20 years- they finally priced themselves out of the market. I canceled services on Aug 16 and still have not received a refund for my credit balance. Every time I call, I get different dates. One person tells me that it should have been issued and offered to call me back- yeah sure. When I just called, the CSR told me 45 days after the end of the cycle for a refund- when I pointed out that more than 45 days had already passed, she changed her story. she then claimed that they won't do any refunds for 60 days after the end of your billing cycle regardless of when you canceled. Used to be world class customer services but now I would have to put them below the any cable company (who are usually notoriously bad). I will keep chasing them, but I bet this will take 3 more calls and additional escalation before its resolved. It's not a big amount but now it's the principal and not the money.
Just reaffirmed my decision to drop them completely.

Your best option is a BBB complaint as that gets it sent to corporate. Otherwise, you can continue calling DIRECTV. I do recommend you try saying ‘cancel’ to the robot when calling so that you are sent to the retention/loyalty department. Those agents are more professional and can likely give you accurate info.

It is extermely reare to have a credit balance. When you cancel they no longer prorate the bill for any reamining days in the bill month so you pay the full amount.
If over the phone with the cancellation/retention department (say "cancel" at the voice prompt) does not clear this up for you, then a BBB complaint is your remaining option.
