Being charged for PROMOTIONS
We took the bait and decided to go with a 3 month "free" channel promotion. Get our bill and SURPRISE, we are being charged for those "free" channels before the end of the PROMOTION. We've been calling customer service allllll morning and keep being placed on hold or they don't understand WHAT the problem is. We asked for a supervisor and have been told A.) There aren't any or B.) They're in a meeting. We are beyond furious over this HORRID customer service. I wish we never would have signed up for anything with DirecTV.

Same thing happened to me. Was offered two months free HBO/HBO MAX. I didn't look at the bill until a month later and saw we were billed for one month. I called to cancel and asked about this charge. I was told some stupid story that this is how they do the billing and we will get a credit on our NEXT bill, which would be TWO BILLS from the one we were charged. It's not a lot of money for one customer, but if they hold onto money for thousands of customers, ILLEGALLY, then they can make some money off of that, not to mention make money off of those who forget to cancel, or try to cancel but can't get through to them. When you call to cancel, it goes under the automated menu "change of service" where they ask you "what service do you want to ADD" and don't even give you an option to CANCEL so you have to wait for a representative. So scammy on so many levels. I really think it's illegal for them to hold your money for something they tell you is free. Maybe a class action lawsuit would get them to change their ways? Any attorneys reading this seeing dollar signs in their eyes right now? Please respond here.

Just read Juniper's two posts and it sounds a lot like the same absolute garbage the agent told me. You people can spit out a lot of WORDS, but you aren't going to convince any reasonable person that what you are saying is fair and honest to your customers. You can claim that this is how you've always done it, or how you supposedly have to do it, but it's a bunch of CRAP. It's WRONG and it's ILLEGAL. You do NOT have to do it that way. Either you bill us for $0 or you bill for the monthly fee and offset it by the same amount on the same bill to have the end result of the customer being charged $0 net, which is WHAT A FREE TRIAL IS SUPPOSED TO BE.
