DTV doesn't use door to door salespeople, at best they work for a third party company that will do anything for a commission that sent a new customer order to DTV. They could have enough info on you to convince the CSR they where you.

My guess is they put your number into a caller id spoofer software that was sent to DTV when they called and having the RID number helped convince the CSR it was you.

This is a customer to customer forum so we didn't open anything.
Door-to-door people are not employed by DirecTV but a 3rd party dealer. Their track record of honest dealings hasn't changed in the last few hundred years.
Since in one fashion or another they pretended to be you to start service you will need to file an identity theft claim: www.directv.com/notmyaccount
(username and password are something you create after you have an account and want to look up the info online. The Receiver ID or RID is confirming the exact box that was supposedly installed)
